The americana

Had a blast with Jessica at the Americana today, lunch, shopping and christmas decorations!

Holiday spirit

I'm not a big fan of romantic comedys but there is one movie that I simply cannot resist. The Holiday, which I'm watching right now. Yes, it is romantic, and yes, it is a comedy, but somehow it's the perfect feel good movie for me. And especially now when december is moving closer every day. And with december comes my departure, I'm moving back to Sweden, again, pretty soon. Can't tell you how glad I am about that, although I've really enjoyed my time here in LA. It is wonderful to do what you love for a living an be surrounded by inspirirng, talanted people all the time. But I miss home, I miss my family and my friends, my dog and especially my boyfriend. You never really get away from being homesick, do you? So now I', looking forward to spending my last days in LA with some real Holiday Spirit, since the holidays are on overload here anyway. And then I'm going back to cold, dark and hopefully snowy Sweden, and could not be happier about it!

It's time

Again! And I would feel more like a pro if it wasn't for the anxiety attack this always gives me..
I'm talking about packing and the impossible mission to fit all of your clothes into one bag. Without getting overweight. Or having to throw things away. Oh, sometimes it would come in handy to now a bit of magic, then I could just make all of my stuff light as a feather. But no, that ain't going to happen so instead I'm already taken on this mission, gotta be prepared if I need to by another suitcase. So today will be all about packing, sorting through things, throwing away empty bottles of makeup and schampoo and probably a lot of cursing... Happy Saturday!

The z palette

I had two Old Age makeups applied today, Stretch & Stipple and all. My skin is hating me right now cause I removed it to quickly. It's kinda like a skindeep peeling!
Another thing I did tonight was depotting all my eyeshadows from Makeupstore and putting them in my Z palette. This magnetic palettes are great, you can mix your favorite colors in one palette and it takes up no space at all compared to having tons of single eyeshadows. But the depotting is not as great, time consuming and frustrating. There is some really good tutorials on YouTube on how to do it but most of them requires a kindle or some kind of lighter at least, which I do not have. So I did it the hard way, in the microwave, where you heat them up to melt the glue and trying not to melt all the plastic. It worked well enough and now I saved even more space in my makeup kit that I'm really trying to size down so I won't have to pay for the over weight when in flying back to Stockholm.

Naked and Painted

I'm off work today so I spent my day in Downtown Burbank enjoying the Holiday feeling with all Christmas decoration and looking for a small sized, carry-on stroller. Got back with some new energy, a lovely bordeux colored Samsonite and also new makeup bags for my private use. I feel a little like a bag lady now, but with all this traveling I do need every bag and luggage I have. And this Samsonite stroller will be great for my computer, camera and all my makeup pallettes that is too fragile to check in.
I also have another fun thing today, the all new special episode of Face Off, Naked and Painted with some familiar faces in it. Fun, fun, fun and it got me interested in Syfy's new show Naked Vegas too. A tv-show about body painting?! Amazing!

Miami and a marathon

This past weeks has been very busy with work, a trip to Miami and then school again adn when I woke up yesterday morning I realized just how exhausted I am. Especially this week has really been hard with being in front of a computer every day, something I'm not used to at all. So I decided that I needed to do absolutely nothing this weekend and it's not very often you get a chance to do it. Therefore I spent all day yesterday in bed with a marathon of the tv-series Beauty and the Beast. And I also went throuhg some of the pictures from Miami and dreamed about being back in paradise with my love.

DFX project

Today for my final in Digital FX I turned my classmate Anna into an elfe, Lord of the Rings-style. This is a lot of fun to play around with and I'm very happy with the result, especially since I got a great grade on it and it will probably be featured at Cinema Makeup School's website.
Here's the picture of Anna that I used:

And here's the final result after quite a few hours in photoshop, especially that headpeice took some serious time:

White as snow

So between classes I could not resist working on one of my own pictures, an d it is amazing how big of a difference small changes do. Here's my first retouched and finished picture of Janea from our Bight Lips photoshoot, ready to get a place in my portfolio:

Maleficent

The first trailer for Disney's upcoming movie Maleficent came out today, and we've already seen it twice. The makeup done by Rick Baker has been shown on a couple of pictures before and every makeup artist I know is looking forward to see it for real, I do too!

Copy, Paste an done

I never thought photoshop would turn out to be so useful, and so much fun! I can already do things that I did not see as possible and this after only two days. And since I'm so thrilled by this I'm already working on some of my own pictures as well as the school assignments.
The only thing I do not like right now is how cold it is, especially in our classroom. And yes, I know that I was wishing for cold just a couple of weeks ago but not inside! Although I do get a chance to use all of my cozy sweaters and my new winter jacket that I adore, there's always an upside. And I get to stay inside watching tv series like the new Dracula, without feeling guilty.
And Santa, if you see this, here's what I want for Christmas. A drawing tablet for my computor!

Warrior Princess

Good morning! Or at least in L.A. it's morning and I'm heading to school in a little while.
A couple of days ago I got another picture of this beautiful lady and I must say that Robert Mosbach did a great job on this one, lovely warrior princess!

Digital FX

Coming back to school this morning, and as a student, was weird. It almost felt like last week was just a beautiful dream and I'm just glad that my every day reality is almost as dreamy. At least I got a fun start to this day when I got a copy of the latest Makeup Artist Magazine with two pages of pictures of me in it. And I think this week will continue as fun as it started, it is great to be back in school again even if it's just for a week. I'm taking a class in Digital FX, photoshop for makeupartists, which is great. We started off today with restoring old photos and also got in to some classic retouching, can't wait for tomorrow!
Before and after, the photo is from the school, photographer unkown.

One week in paradise

LA is kinda cold after one week spent in Miami with great food, great shopping, great entertainment and the worlds best company! Why does time fly by so fast when your having fun?

Multitasking

We all have those days, when real life hits us. So today I've been taking care of all the things that were forgotten during two weeks of work, work and work. Catching up on sleep, doing laundry and cleaning and of course started packing for tomorrow. I got an early flight to Miami tomorrow, and I am looking forward to it. One week with my man, whom I haven't seen in seven weeks now, only doing fun stuff such as shopping, hanging by the pool, walking down South Beach and going to Disney World. Yes, here's the moment when you should give me the angry eye and be just a little jelous!

Mad hatter

Just wanted to drop by and say a quick hello. After a short day with work at the TLC Chinese Theater for the Beijing Motion Picture Festival I headed to my friend Jess and we've spent the afternoon getting ready for tonight's Halloween party. This is going to be fun!

Thank god for coffeebean

So yesterday I worked with Halloween makeup until midnight. Today it's a red carpet event with calltime at 7am which made me set my alarm at 5 in the morning. That's never excusable, ever! At least I can enjoy breakfast at The Coffeebean and Tealeafe, they have the best chai latte in LA.

BTS

Behind the scenes from yesterdays photoshoot. I did a very clean Sugar Skull (Day of the Dead) makeupin black and purple on my amazing model Brittany, thank you so much! Had some time pressure and was a bit stressed out by the fact that this took way longer than I thought, but that's how you learn and the result turned out pretty okey. As they say, you should always be your own worst critic and I have a lot of things I could have done better on this one wit some more time. But it was a fun makeup to do and I'm hoping for some great pics of this one!
