Happy Halloween!

I'm off to work soon, Halloween style of course. Just wanted to stop by here and show you what it looks like when I get a free morning for drawing, I'm such a nerd when it comes to Disney!

Sugar Skull

From one job to another, I just finished my Sugar Skull!

Sugar Skull

A little sketch for todays makeup (yes, I'm doing way to many face charts right now!)

Mad makeup

I was suppost to work on facecharts for this weeks gigs but somehow I ended up doing on for the makeup I'm planning on doing on myself for my Halloween costume this Friday. How come you never feel inspired to do the things you really need to, but there's no problem spending hours sketching on things you don't even have to do? Well, here's a little sneak peak on my Mad Hatter/Chessboard Makeup!

Assistent

One of my favorite makeup artists to assist is Nelly Recchia. It's such an amazing experience every time I get to be her assistant and just watch her doing makeup. A very humbeling thing too, if I'm half as good as Nelly in twenty years I'll be very happy! Yep, this will be a very fun week. Mixing assisting Nelly with Halloween gigs and finishing up with Halloween celebration on friday.

Halloween Masks

Sketching, what else to do on a late Sunday night? Trying to get my concept down for a Halloween job on Thursday.

More makeup

Another great day at the expo and I'm glad today wasn't as long as yeasterday. Just enough to be ready for next week with more work, October and Halloween is busy times for makeupartist!
I jumped in and modeled for the one and only, Wendy Ann Rosen, who had a demo at our pavillion today

Sunday, happy Sunday

I'm off for another fun day at the LA Women's Expo, it's a beautiful day and I'm really looking forward to meeting all the great people I work with again. But the best thing about today is that it's Sunday, which means only one week left til Miami!

LA Ultimate Women Expo

I've been working all day as lead artist for the team from Cinema Makeup School, doing makeup at LA Ultimate Women Expo. My feet are sore but my heart is happy after a successfull day!

The Monster's Bride

Here's a better picture of my new palette from MAC Cosmetics, The Monster's Bride. I just love the green color and the one that looks greyish here actually has green glitter in it, amazing. This will defenitely be a palette to use for Halloween!
And also, check this out. When makeup legend Rick Baker introduced this line with MAC Cosmetics he also introduced a makeup challenge. Read all about it at macrickbaker.com, and just a heads up, I think we're gonna see some pretty awesome makeups for this competition.

Printed art

It's such a big differens to see your work printed as real photos, this actually makes me just a tiny bit proud. Of course this is not for me but for the IMATS competition, although I do feel like I should print out my favorite photos some day and use as at in my apartment. To be able to see something you've achieved every day, such an ego boost.
Took me forever to get theses but now it's done and all I have to do is send them in. Another thing checked off my to do list, which also had laundry and grocery shopping on it since I'm working the whole weekend. The kit is sized down and ready to go and I'm getting up at 6.30 tomorrow, oh happy day!

Lucky me

I just realized one thing. I get to spend my days assisting super talented artists in this industry, see how they work and learn new things every day. I also get to spend my days helping and watching new talents, every one of them with a new way to express their creative side. And that must be two of the most inspiring things you can do as a makeup artist. Lucky, lucky me!
Sometimes, like today, it's easy to forget all the good things in life. If you didn't get enough sleep, are worried about things in the future or miss your loved ones, that's the time to remind yourself about how lucky you are. I'm working quite a lot right now, actually every day until next weekend. Besides my normal work there's the LA Women Expo this Saturday and Sunday, and next week's Halloween which I will be spending doing makeup on performers. But then it's a week off in Miami, this mornings second lucky, lucky me!
Oh, and good morning by the way :)

And the third thing this morning that makes me a lucky girl!

One day off and fairytale creatures

I should not be aloud to go shopping by myself, I need someone with me who can stop me or else it ends up like today. Either I made some of the best purchues of my life, or some of the worse. Only time will tell. But I updates some of my hot tools for my kit, which I really needed! Although I'm not sure if these are as great as they seem, if they are I'm one lucky gal. And also I got my costume ready for the Halloween party, so exciting. And the most exciting thing is that it's only one and a half week left, which means it's less then two weeks until I go to Miami.
Besides shopping I actually got some things done today, like retouching photos from this weekends photoshoots. From now on I will always do the makeup in my own apartment, it is such a luxury to be able to set things up before the model arrive and you have everything you could possibly need. At least when doing airbrush cause it's such a pain to drag all that stuff with you at the subway. Well, enough talking, here are my two favorite shoots from Saturday and Sunday with Brittany and Hailey!

The Face Off Party

So after work today I went to the Face Off Party by European Body Arts at Naimees with some friends. Free food, goodie bags, great makeups, everything you need for an awesome evening!
Snapshots from my phone, blurry as they should be..

Applications

I've got so many applications and personal statements to write right now and I cannot for my life keep focus. I'm doing everything else except what I'm supposed to do.. Feel like I would need a big bowl of candy, a couple Red Bull and a dark qiute room with no internet connection to get this done, and right now non of that is possible. Why do you always find something that is more tempting to do than the things you actually have to get done?
Oh, well, at least I got my stencils and ideas ready for Saturday. It's going to be big hair and "face lace" in a Marie Antoinette inspired way.

Wednesday update

And suddenly I got the day off since we had to reschedule today's photoshoot. So I'm having breakfast and watching disney movies and preparing for this weekend, which is going to be hectic with shoots both Saturday and Sunday.
until then, here's another photo from a shoot with Miko and Jasmine.

Playing hard to get

I've been chasing this little thingy from Burbank, through LA and all the way to Santa Monica today, but finally I got it. Same as the one I have in Sweden but this one works in America. And on Thursday I'm going to try it for some fun stuff!

Son of Monsterpalooza

I stopped by at Son of Monsterpalooza today to look at the demos, see if they had something fun for sale and say hi to some friends!

Prepp

Prepping for one of next weeks photoshoots, 20's, body art and headbands!

Road trip

Went to Orange County today with Jessica, it's so beautiful there.

Great, all organic lunch at Fashion Island.
And the beautiful roses I got yesterday at work!

That autumn feeling

It is quite unusual to wake up to a grey and boring day in Los Angeles, I guess fall is coming after all. And the cold kind of makes me homesick. I miss my friends, my family and especially my two favorite guys! I also miss a really cozy sweater to wear days like this one..
Today it's also exactly two months until my plain is landing in Sweden, two more months of Cali living, sun, makeup and fun!

Halloween

I still haven't grasped the whole thing about it being October already, certainly doesn't feel that way. But as so many other things this past year, I might just have to accept that it is so. And with the month of October comes all the fun and fright around Halloween. As a makeup artist this can be a pretty busy time, and a very fun one. I only have a couple of gigs around Halloween since I'm kind of occupied elsewhere, but I'm really looking forward to them. And then of course there's the Halloween Party! And since I'm in the states it's time to go all in with costume and makeup this year. Last year I did an not so original but fun vampire look, but now I actually have a theme to go with. Guess what it is...
Yep, it's gonna be a Mad Hat Tea Party! And I really need to start planning my costume and makeup. For those who, as myself, need some inspiration for Halloween I think one of the most fun ways to find that is by visiting youtube and look up different tutorials. One of my favs are Kandee Johnsson who makes the cutest videos and most adorable makeups.

Cover Girl and Hunger Games

Last week a friend showed me this, Cover Grils new collection and look book inspired by Hunger Games, and it was really a surprise. Cover Girl, which is more of a budget brand, has really stepped up an made this beautiful looks that would makeup any avantgarde fashion magazine proud. Great inspiration and you can find them all at www.covergirl.com.

Autumn colors

I got the sweetest gift from one of my friends when I left Stockholm last time. Nail polish and lipstick from Chanel in the ultimate autumn colours, burgundy and dark red. And even though we do not really get fall here I'm going to wear it anyway and dream about red leafs, chilly days and hot chocolate.
Nail polish 573 Accessoire and lipstick 135 Énigmatique

E.l.f favorite villains

Today is way too hot to actually be doing anything, so I went to Downtown Burbank for some light shopping. Shampoo, conditioner and a new set of headphones was on my short list today, but very important, especially the headphones 'cause running ain't no fun without music.
I did find what I needed but I also found something else, this! E.l.f in corporation with Disney has a line of makeup with all your favorite villains and it was so adorable that I couldn't help but get some. E.l.f is really a budget brand but sometimes they do surprise and I think this is a really fun gift to myself for Halloween!
And I also got some stuff from Burt's Bees that I'm gonna try in my search for the perfect organic hair care!

Friday night

My friday night is not very exciting at all. Had a rough day, feeling kind of homesick and decided to just stay in. So I'm doing laundry, watching Face Off and sketching on a makeup that I'm doing in a couple of weeks.

Catwoman

I played around with some makeup today and did this look, suitable for Halloween maybe?
I am so in love with my airbrush gun and the Wolf Brothers palette with watercolors, could probably spend many hours a day playing with this stuff just for fun!

Getting spoiled

Every day can be like Christmas Day when people around you show their appreciation for your work. Got this amazing gifts today and I can already tell you that this Smashbox palette is coming with me to Miami! A tan with that tealc color, gorgeous :)

October 1st

And here it is, October. What for most is the month of fall, if you don't live in California so to say, and the official month of Halloween! Of course this makes me a little excited, I'm about to spend my first Halloween in America and we all know that they don't hold back on the fright here. Many of my friends are working on theme parks during this and I am tempted to go visit some, especially Disneyland would be awesome but since Universal Studios is just by my house it may be more likely I'll pay a visit there. Something that I will certainly do though is spending next weekend at Son of Monsterpalooza. Last time I was here I was volunteering at Monsterpalooza so I didn't really have the time to see everything, this time around I'm going all three days to make sure I don't miss a thing.
What else is in October.. Well, some photoshoots of course. I have to get my entry to IMATS Battle of the Brushes ready ad I would also love to do some Halloween makeups to show you, if there's time. Then I have to start preparing my own Halloween costume, thats gonna be fine. All and all this month will pass by so fast and the only thing I'm gonna miss is real fall weather with hot cocoa and rainy days, but hey, in a month I will be on my way to Miami so I should not complain!
Here's some inspiration for Halloween, a simple way to enhance bonestructure and do a zombie-ish look with airbrush. Makeup by my former classmate Courtney Ulrich during airbrush class in june this year.

Guess who..

..did the makeup for this advertising movie!
Before I left sweden I did a gig for a pretty big food brand, the actual movie is kind of silly and we had a very fun day at set.
