When life gives you lemons..

You just add vodka!
Or in my case, Chai Latte, a sketch pad and good friends!

Perfume junkie

I'm gonna blame my love for new perfumes on the fact that I've worked with it. And fragrances is one of the most popular gifts during the holidays so Santa, please?
Right now I'm into more intense and sweeter fragrances, like Manifesto from YSL, Coco Noir from Chanel, Juicy Coutures Viva La Juicy Noir and Gucci Guilty Black. Non of them are brand new but oh so yummy!

Bittersweet

It is a great feeling to see your own work published but very bittersweet when you don't get the right photo credit. And there's nothing to do about it when the magazine'a been published. But I still keep all of my printed work for fun!
So today's Sunday and Sunday means fun day, you have to enjoy yourself cause that's what you twenties are for. I'm gonna hang out with family and friends, go see Stockholms Roller Derby Girls and other fun stuff. And maybe have some glögg, a traditional swedish christmas beverage, cause it's freezing outside!

Walking in a winter wonderland

Fun day working today, a really good team and halfway trough the day it started to snow. It's so cozy when you can go home, snuggle up in the sofa, order pizza and have a glass of wine.

Murphy's for makeupartists

Oh how I love these early call times. Right now I'm not even sure if I'm tired or not, this is confusing for the mind so I'm just gonna convince myself that I'm not tired at all. Here's a couple of fun facts that always happens to makeupartists, or at least me cause I'm an unlucky bird!
1. It doesn't matter if you go through your kit the day before or two minutes before you have to leave, you will forget something. Today it was the makeup remover. But that can also be a good thing since you get really good at using products for things they're not really meant to do and to think quickly. As long as I have my brushes with me it's a successful day!
2. If you're living in Stockholm and have to take the metro to location you can be a 100 % sure that something will delay your trip if you're already late. But if you leave twenty minutes early everything's gonna go super smooth.
3. If it's an early call time like today they always serve breakfast on location, and the good kind like you would get at a hotel. But since the first thing to happen is hair and makeup for the actors or models you won't get a chance to eat because you have to work!
I do believe this is Murphy's law for Makeupartist and still i love my job!

A clean refill

Every time I come back to Sweden after spending a couple of months in L.A. I get extremely jetlagged. And this time I've also aloud myself to stay up late and sleep in every morning, the worst thing you can do. So tomorrow is going to be a fun day, I have a call time at 7 am and location outside Stockholm. Early mornings, yay!
Since it's a pretty big gig and an early call time tomorrow Iäve spent today with cleaning and sorting through my makeup kit. And I also did a refill of skincare and other stuff that's always missing. It's always a fun thing to do, especially with all the small gifts you get now around Christmas. Walking back to the apartment after my little shopping spree, in the dark with all the Christmas lights that are around town gave some Holiday feelings even dispite the lack of snow!

Two new beauty shots

While finishing my website earlier today, I also finished the retouching on some old beauty pictures. Here's Janea and Priscilla in bright bold lip colors, both shot by photographer Beth Coller!

New website

Me, the most non techniqal person ever, has finished a website. And it looks okey, actually pretty good if I may say so. Check it out here: www.elinhaake.com

Thanks for all the memories

Stockholm. It's cold, and rainy, and you can't go outside without a warm jacket and boots.                  It's just how i like it.
I arrived last friday in my home country and the best place on earth right now. After getting home I also got sick, as always whenever I'm traveling long distances. So I've had some time to just adapt to everything here, it's not only the time difference but also the fact that my year in Los Angeles is over and I am now starting yet another chapter. A chapter I hope to spell W-O-R-K!
Looking back on the year that has been and everything I survived and learned I can't help to feel a little bit proud. Not only did I get through school without any big misshappenings, I also got to know amazing artists and friends, I got the meet some of the best people in the industry, I learned how to be on my own in a new country and I got to work at one of the best schools in Makeup and SFX in the world. I can truly say that I'm moving back home as a new and better self, Elin 2.0, the improved version as my other half likes to call it. (Even though he takes all the credit, but hey, the things you do for love.)
I've been back for less than one week and I'm already eager to get back to work and test my new skills. But since it's december and Christmas is around the corner I also want to take time and see the people who has been there for me through this crazy year. Can't thank them enough, friends an family is and will always be the most important thing! And it's the same for everyone I've met in L.A. I will miss them so much and I am so grateful for all the fun and joyfull times we've had. So here is a big thank you, to everyone in L.A. for being so great, to everyone here in Sweden for hanging in there and supporting me through the craziness and to myself for actually doing this!

Holiday spirit

I'm not a big fan of romantic comedys but there is one movie that I simply cannot resist. The Holiday, which I'm watching right now. Yes, it is romantic, and yes, it is a comedy, but somehow it's the perfect feel good movie for me. And especially now when december is moving closer every day. And with december comes my departure, I'm moving back to Sweden, again, pretty soon. Can't tell you how glad I am about that, although I've really enjoyed my time here in LA. It is wonderful to do what you love for a living an be surrounded by inspirirng, talanted people all the time. But I miss home, I miss my family and my friends, my dog and especially my boyfriend. You never really get away from being homesick, do you? So now I', looking forward to spending my last days in LA with some real Holiday Spirit, since the holidays are on overload here anyway. And then I'm going back to cold, dark and hopefully snowy Sweden, and could not be happier about it!

It's time

Again! And I would feel more like a pro if it wasn't for the anxiety attack this always gives me..
I'm talking about packing and the impossible mission to fit all of your clothes into one bag. Without getting overweight. Or having to throw things away. Oh, sometimes it would come in handy to now a bit of magic, then I could just make all of my stuff light as a feather. But no, that ain't going to happen so instead I'm already taken on this mission, gotta be prepared if I need to by another suitcase. So today will be all about packing, sorting through things, throwing away empty bottles of makeup and schampoo and probably a lot of cursing... Happy Saturday!
